(Topshop cape top, Rag & Bone Paris skirt, Rebecca Minkoff Logan backpack, Anine Bing boots)
A simple but still kinda cracked out outfit from the last time I was in New York. Sorry Topshop but I kind of cut your pretty fairy shirt in half. I just flew into the city tonight for a shoot tomorrow in Brooklyn – make sure you’re following me on Instagram for updates! Also answered some questions on this old thing when I wasn’t being a window seat fetus so maybe go there too.
(Rag & Bone tank, Lover shorts, Céline sandals, Saint Laurent Chyc bag)
I’ve worn the black version of these shorts out to the nth degree and have convinced myself that lace shorts are now a wardrobe basic so it felt not too crazy to go for them in coral. More colors please Lover! I broke them in yesterday with a Rag & Bone mullet top and 2011 throwback footwear.
(Stone Cold Fox Coppola top, Mercury Duo shorts, Birkenstocks)
This is how you’ll find me puttering about my house on Sunday mornings engaging in a healthy routine of torturing Kumo, glorifying in messy sheets, and checking on the plant life in my backyard in an uneducated way. This Stone Cold Fox piece is so beautiful and lazy day relevant, I forgot how much I’m all about things that are oversized and backless. And before you say it, he’s the opposite of possessed, which to be precise is having the personality of a stuffed animal that was brought to life. But you know what, I know you’re not convinced, it’s ok.
(Ragdoll tshirt, Isabel Marant shorts, Céline espadrilles, Proenza Schouler chain wallet, second version in ASOS top and Barbara Bui bucket bag)
More from earlier this month in Shibuya – dressing for a day walking all day through wall-like humidity was something that I didn’t really struggle with. Wispy and barely existent fabrics are both easy to pack and all I own. I wore a pair of metal-bedecked gauzy culotte shorts with a beaten up Ragdoll tshirt which I later switched out for something a little more feminine and fluttery to go visit my grandparents. Almost as much fun to shoot in sensory overload heaven Shibuya again as it was to shop for like, banana shaped iPhone cases and tear-look eyeliner. Ok I only bought half of the items mentioned but I never said I make all the right choices.
(Stylestalker Time Travel dress, Céline Audrey sunglasses and sandals)
I’m gonna be honest, I thought I had every cutout out there under my belt and filed into the blog archives. I’ve done the gaping side slash, the shoulder in both bodycon and oversized renditions, the vintage t-shirt held together by two non-vintage bits of thread, and my maybe favorite, the thumb. Cause who can bother with actual gloves. This Stylestalker piece proved me wrong and also anyone under the impression that long sleeved dresses are summer irrelevant.
(Sonia Rykiel coat, Dimepiece LA top, Reformation Storm mesh skirt, Céline wedge sandals and sunglasses, Proenza Schouler bag)
More from San Francisco in my old man coat/life mate. Hayes Valley is one of my favorite areas here, so many ideal loiter-worthy cafes and shops and this perpetual fall vibe I can’t quite explain but is very real. I wore a sports bra reminiscent top grossly mismatched to my location with a mesh skirt from The Reformation, doing my best to mitigate the cheerleader vibes with every single other piece involved.
(Mademoiselle jacket, tops by Theory, Anine Bing, Isabel Marant, vintage, and Acne, Shakuhachi dress, ba&sh top, assorted tiny bottoms, bags by Dylan Kain, Barbara Bui, Theory, Jerome Dreyfuss, and Alexander Wang, shoes left to right Manolo Blahnik, Chloé, Isabel Marant, Carven, and Proenza Schouler)
(Brandy Melville knit top, Rag & Bone Paris skirt, Randa studded boots)
Last week above scorching Tokyo, captured contemplating for the first time the potential validity of the parasol but still making sure to channel forlorn. I think I’m at a milestone of almost a hundred nights spent in this hotel, oh Cerulean how you are like a magical alternate life home to me. As far as tour guides of half mile radii in Tokyo go, I can be your Shibuya person! And once beyond that point I can join in on the griping that streets don’t have names here and we can go drink kiwi juice. Win win win. Thank you to everyone that made this trip so perfect, I already can’t wait to be back.
(Sonia Rykiel coat, The Row tank, Rebecca Minkoff Mika leather shorts, Alexander Wang heels, Sunday Somewhere Chely sunglasses, beanie from random shop in Harajuku, Proenza Schouler PS11)
What was meant to be a simple, pure look of nothingness tank and leather shorts went through a dark metamorphosis when I went sourcing for wooly also nubby items from the gem bearing zone that is underneath the backseat of my car. Cause holy everything, San Francisco has been off and on arctic this weekend (insert acknowledgement of that one Mark Twain quote to get it out of the way) . A low point was getting back from a dinner and blow drying my carcass to the point of being able to feel again. Thusly, this coat has quickly become a non-depressing version of a security blanket so please forgive it showing up in 88% of my photos I’ve taken here. And also note that the normal folks decided against the al fresco option so they didn’t have to eat soup wearing beanies. So fun being back in the city for my first time at the America’s Cup, more on that coming up.
