A couple things that made it back from Paris to LA – Bash Paris’ simple oversized robe dress and Goyard’s every day-applicable shoulder bag.
(Acne Mape jacket, Topshop camisole, Vanessa Bruno skirt, Phillip Lim mules, Wolford tights, and Louis Vuitton Vivienne bag)
The last couple weeks have taken me from LA to London to Marrakech to Paris, where I’m staying for the next few days before attempting suitcase Tetris again. I imagined this little gladiator skirt being more appropriate back home in California with say, a sheer tshirt and some ugly-cool footwear but I think I can accept it with tights if I have to. Thank you to this bag for making everything look acceptable.
Starting the new year off right. With a post I meant to put up two months ago. I gave you guys glimpses into my experience at Tokyo fashion week via Instagram updates and outfit posts but here’s a fuller scope of what I got into over there. With the traquillion times I’ve been to Japan the past few years, this was my first time getting to attend the shows at their official Mercedes Benz fashion week. These were shows that were unafraid to take very honed in angles. The A Degree Fahrenheit show was executed completely in tangerine orange, Murua was Neverland whimsy complete with a crinoline parade, and Somarta‘s neutral toned kimono dresses were streamlined to perfection.
My favorite was the last show I attended – menswear line Sise by Seishin Matsui. Which was also the night of the typhoon that made drinking Moscow Mules at the top level of the Cerulean a pretty surreal experience (see the photo that is second to last). Imagine an outdoor show at night in a stadium with torrential rain coming down on all sides lit by chandeliers that were good at swinging eerily. But anyway, if you want to re-learn how to style existing things in your wardrobe, look slightly Swedish, and wear pants in general you should watch this video. There’s an effortless look for everything here and yes I know that’s a curse word. See: blogger road trip desert edition and answering the door of your hotel room in Vegas anytime before 10am. If I haven’t convinced you yet, watch it for the song. Trust me it’s awesome. All 15 minutes of it.
Thank you so much for MBFWT and Murua for having me and I hope you guys enjoy the photos of one of my favorite cities!
(Isabel Marant for H&M tshirt, Isabel Marant skirt, Céline buckled mules and cuff, Goyard Saint Louis tote, OPI nail polish in Samoan Sand)
So lucky to have freakish 80 degree weather in LA this week cause something about the tshirt by itself option is such a relief. One of the angles I took when shopping the H&M collection with just the slightest bit of foaming at the mouth was buying every white tshirt in sight, including ones that were targeted at other genders. Cut and opacity-wise, there was a lot going on that was perfect. The rolled sleeve version is super ideal for dressing down this main line structured piece along with all things Goyard that came away from Paris fashion week with me.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to my beloved readers!
Pandora approached me to put together some bracelets from their Essence collection to represent the women in my life – I love the idea of individually selecting charms that represent key values. I’ve always admired the relationship that my mom has with her sisters and tried my best to put together a combination of pieces to honor it. The way that she approaches life has been continually inspiring to me – she taught me that believing that anything is possible to the point of being irrational is basically the only way. She is the strongest person I know and I love being smart enough now to appreciate her relentless and heavily emoji sprinkled texts. I chose strength, confidence, and wisdom – all the things I hope she successfully taught me. The perfect gift for someone in your life who needs to know how much you appreciate them.
(Acne Velocite jacket, Jonathan Simkhai cropped sweater, RVCA tank, BLK DNM leather pants, Sophie Hulme box clutch, House of Harlow sunglasses, Balenciaga necklace, Céline wedges)
You know it’s LA cause one element is totally off. Coldest foot day.
So I think this is me being festive? Fun little corduroy skirt with a ’70s scholastic vibe that I hopefully almost eradicated with part of my leather arsenal.
(Etoile Isabel Marant Anders jacket, Mlle Mademoiselle Zaria tank, Anine Bing denim, Valentino My Own Code clutch, Céline wedges and Audrey sunglasses)
“Freezing” LA is the best – the streets are all to yourself and the sunshine is as relentless as ever. I’ve spent the past few days in these jeans which I came across during a closet rummage initiated by a search for something other than a leather miniskirt. Anine Bing got that elusive slouchy/skinny factor just right. Worn with a giant fluff cloud and the faithful olive wedges.
(Vintage Escada cardigan, T Alexander Wang tank, Isabel Marant skirt, Theyskens’ Theory Alito boots, Theory bag, Weekday earring, Céline Audrey sunglasses)
Not sure I’ve ever worn this many colors that mice come in at once before. I dressed this structured Isabel skirt down with one of my favorite thrift store finds of all time. Cocoon blankets over summer outfits = perfect for LA’s take on winter.
