(wearing Michael Kors and Acne with Alexander Wang for H&M, Molami Plicas, and Balenciaga zip boots)
I was beyond late to NYFW this season due to having fittings and meetings for AYAI but was really happy to make the last few days and still get to see some of my favorite designers show. That said, putting this post together is making me curl up a little more intensely in my blanket in my 76 degree living room. Such cold air particles. I genuinely think this trip marked my first experience with the Fahrenheit reading of three and marked the appearance of a new ability to go through 8 pocket warmers a day. Thank you to the Mondrian Soho for taking care of me and being close to enough places that I didn’t really need to venture that far from a small area. Can’t wait to be back in NY when it’s more habitable!
I was so excited to be involved in the coverage for the Hugo Boss show again this season. Five of us were given iPhones to cover the show from different angles and we took video footage of every second, from the first look to Jason Wu’s appearance after the finale. I hope you checked out the livestream!
During NYFW after the Thakoon show – that day I went for a classic slipdress/choker combo and Alexander Wang most everything else. Right after exiting the venue we came across first a casual street horse then a truck blocking all traffic with ease on a street probably more fit for the horse. SO FUN. I’m still deciding how to feel about Wang’s spring ’15 waist barcodes and torso sneakers but what I do know is this trench coat makes everything better.
Finally sorted through my New York photos (I suck, correct). Here goes..
(Phoebe English top, Michael Kors coat, Reformation Noir trousers, Calvin Klein belt, Balenciaga boots, and Goyard shoulder bag)
The excitement of getting this top from Dover Street Market I’m estimating a few hours before these shots were taken unfortunately caused me to lose it for a little bit and experiment with some arctic midriff. I added even more excitement with a giant belt and my favorite coat to drown in.
Inside my fashion week stronghold, the Tribeca Grand.
(Sonia Rykiel coat, Terzakou Paris shoulder bag, Jenni Kayne top, Reformation Noir trousers, Barbara Bui boots)
Shot right before the Theory show in Tribeca – same trousers as above. With stalwart staples. Forever reliant on this Sonia Rykiel coat and these Bui biker boots.
(Yves Salomon top, Robert Rodriguez trousers, Theyskens’ Theory boots, Goyard bag)
At the Alexandre Birman event held at the MoMA – loved seeing my girl Lily Kwong. Also the chance to shoot undisturbed by the Desmoiselles d’Avignon.
Beautiful, evil flurry.
Newly installed ombré courtesy of Bumble and Bumble – Sasha was the wizard of this. I always love visiting their massive salon in the Meatpacking.
Shooting with Cosmopolitan. Chanel pearl-strap platforms? Yes indeed. Shiona Turini made sure the laughs didn’t stop..such a fun day.
A moment of pure relaxation with most beverage types at the Peninsula hotel uptown.
Opening Ceremony criss cross suspender/belt/harness contraption in satin. Required.
More in that most ideal blush top – this time with Acne’s Velocite jacket and a Vanessa Bruno carwash skirt.
Three very different minds.
I was particularly happy to be indoors at this moment.
As modern as it is ethereal. I love this Derek Lam dress, a lot.
Icon + halo
Wearing so much mohair at the Rag & Bone show.
Natural refrigeration innovation
(Barbara Bui gold sequin top, RVCA tank, Robert Rodriguez trousers, Acne Mape biker jacket, Goyard bag, Theyskens’ Theory boots)
I love these cropped trousers paired with a higher cut ankle boot. A little touch of elasticated bronze armor between your staples never hurt anyone.
(Acne Velocite shearling jacket, Reformation slipdress, Barbara Bui gold top, Goyard shoulder bag, Céline sunglasses, Saint Laurent Classic Paris boot)
Triply golden in the freezing sunshine, a matte sequin..breastplate, and some newly installed ombré outside the Marc by Marc show. Some holy grail outerwear is capable of being the only thing shielding you from the elements in a New York winter if you stuff the pockets with Hothands warmers. Boyfriend fit biker jacket-obsessed.
(Michael Kors hooded coat, Suno pleated top, Alexander Wang pleated leather skirt, Wolford tights, Theyskens’ Theory boots, Louis Vuitton Vivienne bag)
Starting the new year off right. With a post I meant to put up two months ago. I gave you guys glimpses into my experience at Tokyo fashion week via Instagram updates and outfit posts but here’s a fuller scope of what I got into over there. With the traquillion times I’ve been to Japan the past few years, this was my first time getting to attend the shows at their official Mercedes Benz fashion week. These were shows that were unafraid to take very honed in angles. The A Degree Fahrenheit show was executed completely in tangerine orange, Murua was Neverland whimsy complete with a crinoline parade, and Somarta‘s neutral toned kimono dresses were streamlined to perfection.
My favorite was the last show I attended – menswear line Sise by Seishin Matsui. Which was also the night of the typhoon that made drinking Moscow Mules at the top level of the Cerulean a pretty surreal experience (see the photo that is second to last). Imagine an outdoor show at night in a stadium with torrential rain coming down on all sides lit by chandeliers that were good at swinging eerily. But anyway, if you want to re-learn how to style existing things in your wardrobe, look slightly Swedish, and wear pants in general you should watch this video. There’s an effortless look for everything here and yes I know that’s a curse word. See: blogger road trip desert edition and answering the door of your hotel room in Vegas anytime before 10am. If I haven’t convinced you yet, watch it for the song. Trust me it’s awesome. All 15 minutes of it.
Thank you so much for MBFWT and Murua for having me and I hope you guys enjoy the photos of one of my favorite cities!
(Isabel Marant Brad sweater, Barbara Bui crop top, All Saints leather mini, Balenciaga boots, Vanessa Bruno bag)
Cause why should all bulletproof vests be functional? This was one of my favorite pieces that went down Barbara Bui’s fall runway. Sometimes dressing like a video game character is something I like to do. The Bui team tailored it perfectly so now I pretty much have to keep it forever. I wore this on one of Paris fashion week’s hottest days – these were shot walking through the Tuileries, outside the Sonia Rykiel show, and crossing Pont Neuf at sunset on the way to dinner.
(Acne Mape jacket, T Alexander Wang tank, Mlle leather shorts, Vanessa Bruno bag, Balenciaga boots)
Biker jackets bought a size too big on purpose and biker jackets that are designed pre-oversized by people that are perfect at what they do – very different things. This Acne jacket is slightly my new best friend. Worn in Paris with the least summery summer outfit my suitcase had to offer.
