At the V magazine party at the Top of the Standard/Boom Boom Room tonight. Never ever a dull moment with Bryanboy. We seriously have fun waiting for elevators and being stuck in elbow to ribcage crowds. And, as the night went, Polaroiding in a bathtub, eating paper, redressing each other at a gas station, crouching on a single sheet of glass 18 floors above street level, washing our hands while trying not to gawk at Alessandra Ambrosio, breaking into spontaneous dance in unisex bathrooms, eating at crappy diners, and joking about weave glue every three seconds. Though we were missing our other arm Andrew Bevan tonight..we tried to make do with Derek instead. Scary part is that we are sounding more like each other every day…how we will mock each other when the melding is complete?
From the Rebecca Minkoff presentation yesterday at Lincoln Center. Definitely a new thing for me but such a great experience working with Rebecca and her team was so much fun. I loved the simplicity of the dress (already available for pre-order here) and the hair was just really really good. The Made Her Think earring (worn with Mr. Kate ear cuffs) was literally sewn into my hair and reminded me of a kind of elf princess from the sea. If such a thing were to exist. Thank you to Rebecca for being such a sweetheart and having me be a part of the presentation!
Wearing a headpiece that Mr. Kate sent me last week and having some fun at the Soho Grand. Fashion week has been crazy so far..right now waiting for the Derek Lam show to start at Lincoln Center and trying to figure out what Leighton Meester is wearing. And since I suck at staying on top of posting when I’m traveling, see what I’m doing sooner on Twitter here.

I decided that I like the backs of things more than the fronts of things. Also, I appreciate Topshop’s long-standing appreciaton of the exposed zipper. Just got to NY today and am stoked to tell you guys that I’ll be in the Rebecca Minkoff presentation on Sunday! She’s designed a dress inspired by me and I can’t wait to try it on at the fitting tomorrow and meet everyone. In addition I’ll be speaking at the IFB conference tomorrow (well, today at this point) on the subject of creating content and blogging in general – let me know specific questions you have on the matter that you’d like to hear me elaborate on cause the plan right now is looking terrifyingly improv.
So Cheap Monday took the sauna suit and made it into killer menswear. That is insane and very distracting. But they also fused muted freshness with futuristic simplicity…yeah I think I mean that..hmm. Number one on my list is that crazy fleece bustier top..neither tight nor loose and in that perfectly nothing color. How are we taking the clear footwear?

Damn I really thought I would be done wanting that bag by now but I’m very very much not. I count five outfits worth of clothing here. All suitcase-worthy.
The shoot I did with the adorable Japanese label Mercury Duo for their AW collection is now out – loving the ’70s vibe of the clothes. Shot by Kazutaka Nakamura over two days, one at a beautiful house an hour outside the city that I wanted to move into until weird bug bites started to become an issue, and one at a studio in Tokyo. My favorites are the tiny little paisley dress and that ribbed sleeve leather jacket. Yeah Japan!
Thank you and hiiii to Haruka, Yuka, and Kenji (who hunted all over Tokyo to find Colin’s favorite flavor of Pretz after I mentioned how hard it is to find and finally stumbled into a 7-11 “one rainy night” to buy an umbrella and saw them out of the corner of his eye glimmering from a shelf)…see you guys soon!

So many times I’ve stared at the sunset from this spot..the field and collection of dirt patches overlook a sheer rock face rising 300 feet above the ocean. Basically the perfect vantage point to see the last of the daylight and just kind of sit quietly or yell for no reason. I always look for the green flash that’s supposed to be visible before the sun completely disappears but have never actually seen it. I’m about to stop believing in it entirely but I probably won’t ever stop looking..
Clothing-wise, I predict I’ll be living semi-exclusively in this coat this autumn..never mind the fact that I have about 3000 times more outerwear than any Southern California resident should ever own. And I just added another vintage one to the collection..a gray blanket-y cape with a Nordic knit collar and horned buttons..felt good to go thrifting again.
I stole this One Teaspoon lookbook from my friend Jen in LA..sweet clothes with really really good backs. Suddenly wanting to run around town in leather track shorts, see if that perfect pair of polka dot culottes-type (hahahha culottes) shorts is actually thriftable, and take some scissors to the most threadbare denim shirt I can find. How do these Australian labels know exactly what I want to wear, opposite seasons and all?
