Photos from Friday night in my favorite sweater that there was no question I was going to bring to New York with me. It’s oversized to the point of being ridiculous but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Had a pretty smooth flight over here and am now trying to get things organized in my hotel room.
This week was kind of a milestone. I went up to see my buddies at RVCA in Costa Mesa and try on the prototypes for the couple pieces that I designed for them and they look so damn good..thank you so much to Kristin (sidenote, totally having a go at the “Sydney short”) and PM for the opportunity to do this! Seeing my name on hang tags is one of the most surreal experiences I’ve had and I cannot wait to show you guys the final product.
And the other half of the news is that I signed with Next, which I’m so so excited about..the second I walked in to meet them we just hit it off. Stoked to see what we can do together.

Well I’m still going through our photos (and video footage) from Paris which are chaotically divided between multiple memory cards but here are some shots from our second to last day there. That morning I ended up running in the rain to get to a photo shoot for Elle France (leave it to Colin to snap that frenzied moment so artistically) with photographer Alex Isard. Thankfully he was as gracious about us getting uhm slightly lost on the way there as he was fun to work with. See me juggling my huge bag and my Macbook that they wanted in the shot rather unskillfully as Alex’s assistant looks on.
I found myself wearing multiple pairs of tights to keep warm, this California girl is just as much of a weather wimp as you’d expect. Denim wasn’t too helpful either since I seem to have torn gaping holes into most of my jeans. Buuut I’m gearing up for colder conditions again this Sunday when I fly out to NYC for another (secret for now) shoot that I’m really excited about. It seems spring has not yet arrived in New York? I’ll be there sans Colin so I’ll try to document as best I can…staying till Wednesday but my time isn’t really going to be mine, which means I may not be able to get a glimpse of Topshop’s long-awaited opening but you never know.
And thank you for the sweet comments on the last post, especially the ones about the hair..I’m inspired to play around with it a bit more now.

You can imagine how excited I was when (the now blog-enabled) Topshop sent me an extremely generous package of goodies this week, including THE boots in spring-fresh white and a couple pieces from Kate Moss’ spring collection. I love you Topshop! Can’t wait to raid the US store..
A lot of times people will email me about shopping and trends and what I like and why..truth be told, outside of the clarity of buying on the internet, I rarely go shopping with a specific idea of what I want, instead just grabbing whatever appeals in an alarmingly animalistic, instinct-driven way. What I’m trying to say is that in no way was I seeking a leopard print cotton slipdress but I knew I loved it immediately upon sight. It’s been a while, spaghetti strap..

Currently amped on..acquiring a gorilla T to pair with pleated skirt, tall Chloe boots, denim jacket, and spiky bun..rooting through the nude spandexy options at American Apparel..going bare-legged..ninja star-reminiscent jewelry..Kate Cusack armwear..and breaking in my new Frye motorcycle boots.

It’s safe to say that I was absolutely obsessed with this dress a year ago..I wore it so much on the blog that it actually became awkward. But after being immersed in the sea of black that dominated Paris, I seriously became anxious to get home to my closet to find something a little more whimsical.
I finished studding these boots right before we left but the poundage that all the metal added wasn’t really gearing up to be suitcase-friendly. Though bringing two pairs of massive Chloe wedges wasn’t too ideal either. Anyway, all those buckles were just dying for a little makeover and I’m into how they turned out. Definite contender for favorite spring boot.

My take on Wednesday Addams. How much better would black pigtails make this? I bought these armwarmers like years ago and I think I love them more every time I wear them…I’m on the hunt for different versions now..
I wore this shopping around Rue Etienne Marcel, I dutifully went to Kiliwatch as so many of you suggested and wound up buying a couple things, so thank you! Afterwards I fell in love with just about the entire current stock at All Saints only to be crushed when they lacked just as much in my size. Side note…the guy’s section there = sexy. I dragged Colin to one last stop, KTZ, only to find the same story on a pair of rad sneaker wedges complete with puffy ankles. I don’t think that me and shopping in Paris were meant to be. Not complaining though, everything else has been straight out of a fantasy.
This scarf has served as everything from security blanket to pillow to instant heater on this trip…thank you to Vera for providing me with all of the above.
The cold here isn’t as bad as I expected but the quickly changing weather conditions definitely weird me out…a minute after we took these actual umbrella-inverting horizontal rain forced us to take shelter behind a massive pillar before making a break for the nearest cafe. Disconcerting, but at least half of me was waterproof.
