Well whaddayaknow as soon as I complain about it not being cold enough for this jacket it dips down to freezing-for-California temps…NICE. I..love..this…jacket..it seems that Vera is busy traveling right now but I can’t wait to see what she creates next.
I’ve been hunting for the perfect tacky wolf tshirt for like a year now but the search is over..and a thank you to Lindley from Korcula who sent me this rad gold lattice ring, it was immediately accumulated into the daily shinification.
I was lucky enough to catch most of Lagerfeld Confidential on Sundance a couple days ago, how had I not seen it before? There’s nothing I savor more in life than a broad, sweeping Karl quote. Between his wearing so many rings to render his fingers themselves invisible, blandly opining that prostitution saves us from murderers, confiding that he can’t travel without a pillow saved from his childhood, and bluntly addressing the highly awkward nature of interviewer Rodolphe Marconi, it’s kind of a must see. Errr especially if you’re a Brad Kroenig fan. Though I will say that for a director being able to spend so much time with the icon he could have produced a much meatier film..but whatever.
My favorite pearl:
“The worst thing is when friends say, ‘Remember the good old days?’ Forget about the good old days! That just makes your present secondhand. What is interesting is now. If you think it was better before, then you might as well commit suicide immediately.”
I love him.
After being non-committally warm all day it broke out into a crazy downpour about five minutes after we shot these, after which we sat in the car and marveled at its intensity through the moon roof. Kinda romantic you know.
Maybe for once I’ll actually talk about my clothes?
Hope you all had a good weekend!
I have jewelry scattered all around our place..necklaces hanging from metal trees, bracelets crammed up unused shelving hangers, mirrored jewelry boxes. But most of my current loves end up in this silver tray I picked up at Goodwill. Makes it less prone to being kicked around by Kumo, the more rambunctious of our two cats. I swear he had to have been a soccer player in a previous life the way he takes joy in batting just about everything around.
Most everything is vintage/secondhand, a couple pieces from Forever 21..then my beloved Korcula necklace and Elizabeth and James knuckle ring.
(vintage Escada sweater, secondhand thermal shirt, Forever 21 faux leather shorts and necklace, H&M 100 den tights, Chloe wedges)
Well that was a lot of commotion for one sweater. Let me just reiterate that this is my blog, and I will post and wear anything that I want to, lest it lose its entire purpose. I’m glad to be of interest and am in a state of perpetual amazement at how many sweet and insightful readers I have, but at the same time it is not my responsibility to inspire anyone. If my blog makes you twitch uncontrollably, I hereby liberate you to not read it. And to one of my most loyal fans, that special someone who is so moved as to post over and over again under different identities, anonymous or not…I patiently await the day you find a new hobby but find it hilarious that you think I’m worth so much of your time.
This morning I saw a girl sitting on the concrete in the alley behind my house in her underwear taking a picture of some dude in his garage. It was kind of awesome. Maybe I really do live in a different world.
And I will be the first to say that Colin’s photography is far more admirable than anything that I do. We have fun together, man. Always have.
(Alexander Wang sweater, Sam Edelman boots)
I know I’m not the only one to have fallen madly in love with this sweater, images of it have raided more blogs than can be counted. Something about it’s messy slouchy silhouette and strategically placed cutouts just feels kind of..perfect. When I received it last week I was surprised that the sheer pieces aren’t mesh but in fact a kind of industrial, plasticky nylon material that’s woven throughout the entire sweater. Which is obviously so much better. Love it. And the 80 degree weather that let me wear it bare legged.
But something I’m even more excited about – Colin and I are going to Paris in March for some fashion week fun. I haven’t been to France since I was in high school so I can’t even begin to imagine all the shopping temptation I’m going to be exposed to. Aaaand all the layering I’m going to have to do..though Garance has reassured me that it shouldn’t be too too cold. We secured our apartment rental this morning so it actually feels real now. Time to brush up on that college French.
