So sorry for the lack of updates this week, I’ve just returned from my SoCal trip, much of which I had little/sporadic internet access during. I had quite the adventure in more ways than I can even process right now, and my new goal is to be able to move to Manhattan Beach someday – so beautiful. Though updates were scarce..okay non-existent for the past few days, fear not, for documentation was had throughout. I’m slowly going to make my way through my memory card and I suppose just post in order. In regards to the interesting and quite exuberant commentary, I was sort of shocked and saddened to find there was a sort of ruckus going on while I wasn’t able to check the ol’ blog too often…no I’m not pulling a Style Bytes though I can see why Agathe might have chosen to do so now..anyway I really don’t want to have to moderate comments but I suppose I’ll just leave it that way for now..I find myself lucky to have mostly extremely lovely readers who I LOVE but those select few…
So if you don’t like looking at pictures of me, then quickly click away lest your eyes disintegrate while peering at this post. In the early days of Treasure Chest Vintage, my boyfriend and I often took photos at this glorious wreck of a shack (you future bioengineers will know right where I am), and we decided to revisit it and do a little makeshift photo shoot with the random clothing I had packed and some things I found in my dresser in what used to be our room. We picked up some Sparks, laid out my gear, and clicked away. Props to him for managing all this with an only partially functional knee!
Let me know if I need to add in where the clothes are from…I figure this is mostly stuff I’ve worn before. Everything’s pretty much vintage or from places like American Apparel and Forever 21. Those fearsome studded bangles I picked up at Loehmann’s last weekend for $2.25 each. When I asked my boyfriend if I should get them, he looked aghast and vetoed them, but he promptly promoted them to almost acceptable when I told him they cost less than a soy latte.
Hmm I’ve been finding all kinds of random clothes at my boyfriend’s place that I forgot about. This stripey top I got a long time ago and is finally now being utilized. AND haven’t we missed this wall??? Well I have. Except when it’s all cloudy. Then it’s a bad wall.
Shirt, secondhand. Skirt, Forever21. Bag, vintage. Shoes, Aldo.
Locking myself at home today so I would get all those last minute things done, I of course procrastinated in the form of outfit dress-up while attempting to figure out what to pack for my week-long trip. I forgot how much I hate the packing process and usually just end up shoving a bunch of crap in my bag in those last panicked minutes, but these are the looks/items I think I’m leaning towards. Right now, anyway..I’m sure I’ll mix them all up later.
Sweatshirt, American Apparel. Skirt, Forever21. Bag, Charlotte Russe. Shirt, Fruit of the Loom. Heels, Nine West.
Shirt, Urbn. Vest and shorts, vintage. Boots, Jessica Simpson.
As much as I love my massive collection of vintage boots, I’m kind of a heel whore and when this morning I languidly searched for the Chloe motorcycle heels on my favorite comprehensive shopping search engine for no other reason than to shamelessly ogle, I came across these on amazing discount heaven Yoox, which I have coveted madly since first setting sight on them in that Spring ’07 collection. Let’s just say I hope these run true to size, Chloe footwear neophyte that I am….and not to play the devil’s advocate here or anything, but they have a bunch more in different colors and styles…
Pardon the French title, my mom is in Paris this week and I am dyyyyyyyyyying of insane, impossible to contain jealousy. I told her to bring me stuff.
I made sure to check out the Rogan line at Target this weekend..but..already highly combed over. I know, what?! Must have been released days earlier judging from the lack of selection/sizes. I did get to check this thing out..just as crazy as it looks online. Anyway, I moped on over to the dressing rooms with a couple measly items, including these jeans just for the heck of it. I’ve never liked any of the other GO International collaboration’s denim but they seemed at least mildly promising on the rack. They, surprisingly, fit amazingly well, hugging the ankles tightly and practically screaming that they wanted to be friends with my Marc Jacobs boots. Or perhaps not so surprising, isn’t denim what Rogan mainly does in the first place? Oh yeah.
I didn’t really wear this since it was blazingly hot, so I just put together a simple look to photograph. Just saying.
Note: this is really hard to photograph and almost just as hard to see in real life too, but they have this weird/kinda cool/kinda don’t know what to think about it leopard patterning on the sides. I like how invisible this is, and I suppose it doesn’t really detract. Just…random.
T, Urban Outfitters from last spring. Jeans, Rogan for Target. Heels, Nine West. Clutch, vintage.
Mmmm…medium wash denim..I guess I’m pretty into it right now. I was feeling an urge to wear this geeky dad shirt today, along with this Moroccan belt that overstayed it’s welcome back in ’04. I’d found it in my closet in a bag along with 15 other belts I forgot I had and wondered if it could be made new again. Which, of course, meant that floaty dresses and skinny jeans were out of the question. Luckily, bandage skirts seem to solve most of my fashion problems these days.
Oh and I know I have some terrifying roots going on..I’m trying to figure out what to do about it/not really caring. Plus, my brother informed me that he “always thought roots looked kind of cool”. Yeah.
Watch cuff and belt, vintage. Shirt, secondhand. Skirt, Forever21. Bag, Old Navy. Sandals, Urban Outfitters from a couple summers ago.
With the surge of bohemian dresses in the store, I decided to get it on the floaty paisley action. This dress is so summer perfect it’s almost sickening. The semisheer material definitely requires doubling up with an (also vintage) slip, and I gave it that extra roundhouse kick into modernity with my shiniest stud-heavy heels. How is it that electric blue sort of goes with everything lately?
I know I made annoyingly vague allusions to exciting news a couple weeks ago, and well now I am going to annoyingly just say I’m flying down to LA after Memorial Day in relation to said news, which I’m SO EXCITED about. I’m going to be staying with one of my best friends from college and do LA things like…well I’m sure we’ll figure it out. Yay for spontaneously arranged travel!
Dress, vintage. Heels, Bebe. Bag, vintage Bally.
